Puggles Are Popular!
It seems like Puggles are everyplace you look especially in the media making regular appearances in newspapers, magazines and television programs like The Today Show and Good Morning America. That media exposure has generated a massive interest in the adorable hybrid. Hollywood has taken notice with such celebrities as Sly Stallone, Jake Gyllenhall, James Gandolfini and Juliana Moore all sporting Puggles.
The Puggle is a cross between a Pug and a Beagle and is still a relatively new hybrid, the first one ever bred was in 2000 by breeder Wallace Havens, owner of Puppy Haven Kennels. Havens is the biggest breeder of Puggles according to the American Canine Hybrid Club (ACHC) he was the first to register a Puggle litter with ACHC, and as the originator he was allowed to name the mix.
Puggles are a very good natured, social, and affectionate breed that gets a long well with children and other pets which makes them an excellent family companion. Puggles are stout, robust dogs that can easily take a bit of rough play with the kids. Many puggle owners will point to their endearing personality as one of their best traits.
Puggles can come in a wide variety of colors, such as black, beige, silver and even brindle but for the most part will be fawn with black wrinkled masks. The average weight of the Puggle is between 15 and 30 pounds and about 13 to 15 inches at the shoulders, a smaller version called the "Pocket Puggle" can also be found.
The popularity of the Puggle continues to rise and the American Hybrid Canine Association notes that they are the most popular hybrid among the hundreds of litters they register each month.
