Cockapoos, a Great Dog For Families

CockapooThe Cockapoo is a hybrid dog that has grown steadily in popularity since first being bred in the 1960’s. Cockapoos are created by crossing a purebred Cocker Spaniel and a purebred Poodle, miniature poodles are most often used.

Their coats are springy and dense, the tails can vary from stubby and close to a medium length with tufts. Cockapoos are good for apartment dwellers but will do best with regular playtimes and romps with their owners to work off excess energy. They generally do well when left alone, but crating is always advised when leaving your home for extended periods of time.

The Cockapoo is good with other pets and children with an outgoing ready to please personality. Obedience training could be more demanding as their high energy may make them harder to train but patience and consistency are the key.

Like most all hybrids they are not recognized by the American Kennel Club. However an official breed club, the American Cockapoo Club was established in 2004 with a breed standard.
